These games can be used in the classroom, however, I made them for my own family for Christmas and thought I would share them as a Christmas Games Pack. When the Queen's speech is over and the Christmas soaps haven't started yet, try out this fun pack! Suitable for ALL ages and guaranteed to fill your day with giggles and cheer! Word Families are an important part of Spelling and Language Acquisition. Included in this pack are 10 Word Family Board Games. Word Families included but not limited to are- -ab -ad -ag -am -an -ap -at -ed -en -et -ig -in and many more!! These board games are a MUST HAVE for your classroom! Students can play in groups of 2 or 4!

Word families are groups of words that have a common feature or pattern - they have some of the same combinations of letters in them and a similar sound. For example, at, cat, hat, and fat are a family of words with the “at” sound and letter combination in common. This pack contains 7 ‘family’ groups. -at -ad -ab -ag -an -am -ap The download includes several differentiated printable worksheet pages, tracing to writing whole words and sentence formation. The pack also includes one complete set of match up games. Can be used during carousel reading activities, morning centres and or at literacy challenge areas. This pack encourage child-led learning!

These word mats provide examples of words that may be included in many first stage reading books. It is helpful if children have a list of words stuck in the front of their RRB. These lists should be glued into reading record folders and children should highlight the word ‘green’ when they can read it. These word lists can also be used during creative writing time. Download includes 5 lists and 5 additional ‘worksheets’. These can be used for homeworks/spelling books/literacy books.
